ABOUT ME

Jule Gartzke was born in 1970 in Würzburg, Germany, and first came into contact with the Alexander Technique while studying contemporary dance at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. In 1998 she qualified as a teacher of the Alexander Technique after completing her teacher training with Chris Stevens and Nadia Kevan and is a member of the German Society for the Alexander Technique ATVD (Alexander-Technik Verband Deutschland). In parallel to her career as a dancer, choreographer and actress for theatre and film, she teaches the Alexander Technique in her own private practice in Essen since 2001 and Würzburg since 2012. Since 2008 she also teaches the Alexander Technique for professional dancers, actors and musicians at PACT Zollverein in Essen and has conducted workshops and seminars for performers at the Luxembourg Conservatory of Music, the Inter-University Centre for Dance Berlin (HZT) and the University for Music and Performing Arts Frankfurt am Main (HfMdK). She also teaches regularly oversees including at the Alexander Technique summer school in Spain initiated by John Hunter, residential courses in Wales (UK), Sweetbriar and Santa Monica (USA) and on numerous Teacher Training courses worldwide. From 2003-2005 Jule was a member of the board of directors of the ATVD and from 2005-2008 a director of the 8th International Congress of the F.M. Alexander Technique in Lugano, Switzerland.
